Elders Forest

A place where elders can enjoy the bush just steps away from the historic lodge - no need to climb the hills.

A tall old forest, of natives (rimu, miro, totara) and exotics (giant redwood, Sugi, Douglas fir, various towering pines, golden ash, sycamore, beech, etc), with an understory of lush kawakawa (for delicious tea), with mahoe and occasional wheki and mamaku, and numerous other native trees, shrubs, ferns and fungi.

Some of the trees are over 100 years old - dating back before the first settlers in 1892.
